The End of the Tour Main Title
David Lipsky interviewed David Foster Wallace during the last leg of the author's promotional tour for his1996 novel Infinite Jest.

Originally pitched as an article for Rolling Stone, the interview never made it into the magazine, but was eventually published in 2010 as Although of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself and adapted into the feature film The End of the Tour.

Director James Pondsoldt (Smashed, The Spectacular Now) and editor Darrin Navarro approached Colourmovie to create the film's titles, and remained heavily involved during the design process.

We started with an extensive design phase, but ultimately decided that a simpler approach would be more powerful. The titles aptly use Parkinson, a typeface from the pages of Rolling Stone designed by Jim Parkinson in the mid-70s.

We wanted to show some of that early design development here to celebrate the film's release.
